Rehearsal Notes

• The song can be played by small and large ensembles as parts can easily be doubled or tripled if enough instruments are available.

• Song was built for a large percussion ensemble class with minimal available instruments. The design was for each student to play 1 or 2 songs from the medley.

• Xylophone parts are primarily melody and marimba parts are primarily bass line/harmony. Timpani parts fill in gaps between he songs and require the timpani's to be retuned during the song (if using only 2 timpani)

• Each song in the medley lasts between 30 and 60 seconds with a short timpani transition between the songs to allow for students to switch places (if desired)

Program Notes

This medley of Classic Video Games was built as an introduction to Mallet Instruments for percussion students. The song features clips from: Legend of Zelda, Megaman, Sonic the Hedgehog, Tetris, Final Fantasy, Mike Tyson's Punch Out and Super Mario Bros.
